Masters degree in Scandinavia - Norwegian University of Science and Technology

Evelina Bartusevičiūtė, a student of the Faculty of Architecture, shares her study experience in Scandinavia - the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

I chose to study in Scandinavia because I wanted to experience and explore how an economically strong country creates its own educational system, as well as socio-cultural processes.  There was a strong horizontal connection between the student and the teacher in the learning process. At the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where I went, the master's program, you can choose from approximately 10 different studies (main courses) each semester according to personal interests.  Teachers tend to encourage personal explorations and help discover aspects that further enrich and reinforce.

I chose a variety of courses, in one I thoroughly researched light and color in architecture, in the other, we were looking for self-expression tools / research fields with a help of various profiles teachers.  In the third, we explored what it would mean to have our own architectural firm, while traveling we worked on real projects spread across Norway. In later time I was concentrated for my Master thesis. Besides main courses, there was a selection of additional courses which could be selected from Art Academy faculty - I selected analogue photography course as well as contemporary art theory and practices.

Most of the quarantine time was held as usual, only much more attention was paid to safe meetings.  For winter sports enthusiasts, Trondheim is a perfect city, with a wide range of trails that, when warmed up, become great places for hiking.
