Smirnova Tatiana (FMF): Umeå University, Sweden
I would like to share my experience with other students who are considering Umeå University for exchange studies, and with the administration of our university. To have a good attitude to study in Umeå, you need to know that Swedish culture is somewhat unfamiliar and you need to be prepared for the fact that there will not be much studying (sometimes it becomes boring because there is no variety in the courses), but it will be focused on certain subjects that you choose.
Each course is quite detailed and during (for example, a month) you study one course (subject). Sometimes this time is not enough to fully understand the material, especially if you have never studied it before and see the material for the first time. You especially need to be prepared for Swedish laws (they are not always clear) and find out in advance about your student status in Sweden. But it is quite interesting to gain new experience, draw conclusions and learn a new culture.
