Agnė Laukaitė (FMF) - Porto Polytechnic Institute, Portugal - Autumn 2024

I would recommend this institution, the teachers where motivated and helpful, I overall enjoyed my stay and I believe the classes there were useful and informative, however I would strongly recommend to try and select as many classes from English classes catalogue, even though it can be impossible to select everything in English, the classes were way more beneficial, when the teachers spoke in English, even though some teachers translated everything in Portuguese classes, however they were not the majority

 

I really enjoyed my study experience, even though there was some difficulties understanding the language and navigating around at first, I gained a lot of confidence facing these challenges and living alone for the first time. I met a lot of amazing people internationals and Portuguese as well, I found the Portuguese people very friendly and helpful,.  I lived in the small city Vila do Conde, which was the city of my faculty. It wasn't too much to see there, but I lived near the Ocean and the metro system (not like the bus system:)) in Porto district is very well developed. The city gives a free metro ticket for students under the age 23, so I could easily go explore Porto on my free time. Studying there was quite a challenge, since half of my classes were taught in Portuguese, which I didn't know at all by the time I arrived, however teachers or other students translated these classes for me, so I managed to complete all of the subjects successfully.  Also, I noticed, that the classes there were usually more practical than in Vilnius Tech, In Portugal we learned a lot of subjects by doing, which I really liked about studying there. This stay abroad was truly unforgettable life experience. I met a lot of amazing people and managed to see a lot both in Porto and in other major Portugal cities, I  also took up some new hobbies like surfing, drawing or learning Portuguese and got to know the culture and the Portuguese language from the locals. I really recommend for everyone to try this program in their study years!
